What We Do

Foundation Football is a Christchurch-based company dedicated to creating spaces for young players of all levels to develop as people and footballers.

Rooted in local community values, we deliver structured programs that blend technical skill development, tactical understanding, and the joy that comes from the game.

Our core focus is to create a positive, inclusive environment that promotes skill progression, enjoyment, and a lifelong love of football. We partner with schools, and families in the wider Christchurch area, and are committed to broadening the scope of opportunities available to kids who simply just want to play.

Our Vision

At Foundation Football, our vision is to create an inclusive space where children of all abilities can thrive through the community and joy that football brings. As professional players for South Island United, we are deeply committed to using our platform to give back to the sport we love.

We believe in facilitating an environment that is fun, collaborative, and cost-effective. A place where every player, regardless of their background or experience , feels empowered to express themselves freely and develop a lifelong passion for the game.

Josh Rogerson

Director & Co-Founder

Josh is a current professional player at South Island United (SIU) with extensive international and domestic experience. A Wellington native and former Wests player, he was named Mainland Football Defender of the Year in 2025. His background includes representing New Zealand at the U17 FIFA World Cup and a year playing in Sweden. He is set to complete a Bachelor of Teaching in 2026. He has a passion for creating spaces that make football accessible for all kids at all levels.

Ollie van Rijssel

Director & Co-Founder

Ollie is a current professional footballer and Vice Captain of South Island United (SIU). Originally from Wellington, he played for Western Suburbs and Ole for most of his youth. Having completed a professional season in Finland, and with experience as a teacher aide, he is deeply passionate about youth development and coaching.
